Week 6 injuries and suspensions
In week 5 going into week 6 there have been a lot of injuries and suspensions. There has also been players that have been cleared to play in week 6. Minnesota Viking’s quarterback Jason Ponder has been cleared to play in week 6 against the Carolina Panthers. Ponder fractured his rib about 2 weeks ago and is ready to go but Matt Cassel is likely to start this week against the Panthers. The New England Patriots' Rob Gronkowski is still on a day to day bases with his ongoing injury. Rob is hoping to make his season debut against the New Orleans Saints in week 6. As for the Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson was good to practice Thursday. Johnson suffered a knee injury and was not able to play the Packers last Sunday. San Francisco 49ers Aldon Smith was charged with three felonies due to illegal possession of guns. Texans Quarterback Matt Schaub received a visit from a so called “fan” at his home. The man took photos of his family and screamed at about how he has been playing so far in the season. Even though Schaub hasn’t been doing his best, Gary Kubiak (head coach) states that Schaub will still be the Texans starter. The Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall was fined for wearing lime green cleats in his game against the Giants. He wore the cleats to support Mental Health Awareness Week. Marshall and his wife run a foundation that focuses on mental health awareness and education. Marshall knew he was going to be fined so he said he would match whatever the fine was and donate the money to charity and auction off the cleats. Marshall was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder in 2010. He will not be prohibited to play their next game in week 6.
