Big trades and signings in the NFL (Z-1)
One big signing that happened in the NFL recently was the Washington Redskins signing Desean Jackson. Jackson is the eagles former Wide Receiver. The Redskins signed Jackson for a three year deal worth 24 million with 16 million dollars guaranteed. Jackson signed this contract on April 2, 2014. Jackson has a career total of 32 touchdowns with a total of 356 receptions. He also recorded a total of 6,117 yards in his NFL career. His career long was a 91 yard reception. Another huge move is the New York Giants signed former Denver Broncos defensive end Robert Ayers on Wednesday, the team announced. The contract is for two years’ worth a total of 4 million dollars with 1.75 million dollars guaranteed. A major trade I believe would impact the NFL greatly would be if the Houston Texans traded Andre Johnson to the San Francisco 49ers for a 2014 second-round pick and 2014 fifth-round pick. The Steelers also made a big move recently. The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey to a one-year deal. This past season Darrius Heyward-Bey had a total of 29 receptions for a total of 309 yards and only a single touchdown. He went from starting the season as the No. 2 receiver to ending the season on special teams. The Raiders are also making big moves by releasing veteran right guard Mike Brisiel after two up-and-down, injury-filled years on Tuesday. The New York Jets are also looking to help their teams odds in the upcoming seasons by signing cornerback Dimitri Patterson. Patterson signed a one-year, $3 million deal, according to league source. ESPN says that Patterson, who turns 31 on June 18, was released last month by the Dolphins to save $5.4 million against the salary cap. Many teams are taking opportunities to make their teams better in the future.
