(GG-2) NFL News

After Jadaveon Clowney signed his four year contract with the Houston Texans worth about 22 million dollars he stated that "That was the first step getting here. The next step is taking it farther than that. Try to get better at the game.....I am still learning. There is a curve here, trying to adapt." The Texans new coaching staff throws a lot at all of its players. ESPN stated that for rookies, it's that much more as their process would be difficult even in a simpler system. For Clowney they are working a lot with him as an outside linebacker, defensive end, 3 techniques and even a nose tackle. ESPN states that "You teach it by package," Texans coach Bill O'Brien said. "First thing you teach is how to play the Sam position or the right outside linebacker, left outside linebacker position in a 3-4, you start with that." Jadaveon Clowney's biggest concern throughout this whole process is that now he can finally take care of his mom. ESPN also stated that Clowney said "Gotta take care of my money," Clowney said. "Save it -- after I buy my mom something nice." Clowney's exact words were "Now I can finally take care of my mom." ESPN stated that Clowney says "It's a lot," Clowney said. "It's like, if I learn something [then] they throw something else at me, I might forget what I learned the first time. I always go back and review my notes. Just take one day at a time learning." Clowney has been working hard and giving a lot of effort trying to get better and more prepared for the upcoming season. I believe that Clowney will be a very big asset and make a very big difference for the Houston Texans defense in the upcoming season.

Yesterday on June 9th the Jacksonville Jaguars took out almost 10,000 seats and replaced them with a two level party deck that includes two pools and 16 cabanas complete with all plush furniture. Espn states that Companies or fans can rent one of the four poolside cabanas on the first level for $12,500 a game, or $250 per person. This package includes 50 tickets, and offers an all-you-can-eat and drink special. There is a very similar package for a cheaper price. This other package includes twenty tickets which includes everything except pool access. These tickets cost somewhere around 3,000 dollars or 150 per person. The senior vice president of sales, Chad Johnson stated that 65 percent of these seats have already been sold for the upcoming 2014 season. He also stated that "We're targeting businesses who want to entertain some of their clients or even their own employees," Johnson said. "What we've built here you can't get anywhere else." This party deck is one of a couple new renovations to the Jaguars Everbank Feild. They will also be putting in the world’s largest HD LED video screen. They are also putting in brand new seats and tables into the club sections of the stadium. All of these new renovations will be costing about a grand total of 63 million dollars. Chad Johnson also had stated that "We wanted to take areas in our stadium that were underperforming and get creative," He also added "It's no secret that we've had tarps on seats, so we wanted to turn that around and build premium areas." Another big story is Johnny Manziel playing two major league sports? Like Russel Wilson, Maziel had been drafted into the MLB. The San Diego Padres selected Johnny Manziel as the 837th player overall in this year’s draft. Manziel was listed as a short stop back at Texas A&M but never played.

Aaron Hernandez (EE-1)

Aaron Hernandez was a former NFL and NCAA football player who had been indicted for two more deaths. Aaron Hernandez had played for the Florida Gators during college and then in his NFL career he played for the New England Patriots. Hernandez had ambushed and shot two men near a night club in Boston Massachusetts. He shot and killed the two men while they were sitting in their car waiting at a red light on a July night in a Boston south end neighborhood. This killing occurred back in 2012. Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado were the two men that were killed that night. After a couple weeks of the shootings Hernandez was picked up by the New England Patriots worth 40 million dollars. He went on to play a total of 12 games in that season. ESPN had stated that Aaron Hernandez is already awaiting trial in the June 2013 shooting death of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd near Hernandez's North Attleborough home and is being held without bail after pleading not guilty to murder in Lloyd's death. "Under our system of justice, Aaron Hernandez is innocent of these charges, and he looks forward to his day in court," said his lawyers according to ESPN. Hernandez was charged with two counts of first degree murder and three accounts of armed assault with intent to murder and unlawful possession of the gun used in the murder. Hernandez was cut by the Patriots just hours after his arrest in the Lloyd case. Reports say Aarons Hernandez's coach Bill Belichick later said he was "shocked and disappointed" upon learning of the criminal investigation. ESPN also stated that families of the victims have filed civil lawsuits in February against Hernandez seeking $6 million for the wrongful deaths of the two men. Hernandez's life will never be the same due to these killings.

NFL News (DD-2)

The only quaterback that had gone within the first 20 picks other than Blake Bortles. For the 22 pick in the 2014 NFL draft was Johnny Manziel. Johnny Manziel had been drafted by the Cleveland Browns. The next quarterback to be drafted was Teddy Bridgewater. Bridgewater was picked up by the Minnosota Vikings. AJ McCarron was a quarterback expected to go early in the draft but was not actually drafted until the fifth round. AJ McCarron was drafted by the Cincinatti Bengals in the fifth round pick number 24. The Bengals most likely had picked up McCarron as a back up quarterback in the upcoming seasons. After picking up AJ McCarron the Cleveland Browns cut veteran quarterback Vince Young. Even though they had cut Vince Young the Browns kept quarterback Tyler Thigpen. Tyler Thigpen had former played as a back up quarterback with the Buffalo Bills. So there quarterbacks as of right now include Tyler Thigpen, Johnny Manziel and Brian Hoyer. They dropped Young after about four days after this years draft. Michael Sam was drafted by the Saint Louis Rams in the seventh round in the 2014 NFL draft. Sam is a defensive end from Missouri. Michael Sam is officially the first openly gay athlete to ever play in the NFL. The press is really blowing this topic up. ESPN states that he was in his home with him his family, friends and his boyfriend. When he got the call there was recording of him answering the call from the Browns and showing his emotions and kissing his boyfriend.

NFL draft (DD1)

This years draft was very exciting and yet a little predictable. One thing being a lot of the people watching already kind of knew Jadeveon Clowney would be the very first pick by the Houston Texans. The second pick in the first round was Greg Robinson by the Saint Louis Rams. Robinson was an offensive tackle out of auburn. The first quarterback to go in this years draft was Blake Bortles. The Jacksonville Jaguars picked him up with their 3rd overall pick. The Buffalo Bills had traded their 2015 first and fourth round picks for the Browns fourth overall pick in this years draft. The Bills had picked up wide receiver Sammy Watkins. Watkins is a wide receiver out of Clemson. A player that was predicted to go early in the draft came right from the University of Buffalo. This player is Khalil Mack. Mack is a linebacker who was drafted by the Oakland Raiders for the fifth pick overall. The Atlanta Falcons had drafted Jake Matthews with their sixth overall pick. Matthews is an offensive tackle coming out of Texas A&M. A very interesting thing about Matthews is that he had or has 7 relatives that are either in the NFL now or have played in it in the past. One of his relatives are Clay Matthews one of the linebackers currently playing for the Green Bay Packers. The seventh pick was made by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Buccaneers had chosen Mike Evans. Evans is a receiver that also played for Texas A&M. Going number eight was Justin Gilbert. Gilbert is a corner back from Oklahoma State and was drafted by the Cleveland Browns. The day after the Bills had picked up Sammy Watkins they had traded there current wide receiver before the draft, Stevie Johnson. They had traded Stevie Johnson today to the San Francisco 49ers.

(CC-2) NFL News

The Washington Redskins had picked up the fifth year linebacker Ryan Kerrigan. The Redskins will be paying Kerrigan $7.03 million. In his first three seasons as a professional football player Kerrigan had recorded 24.5 sacks. Kerrigan recorded 8.5 sacks in each of the past two years. Reporters say that this was a long waited choice but it was expected. Another big move was made by the Denver Broncos. The Broncos waited almost until the deadline date but on Thursday they exercised the 2015 contract option on linebacker Von Miller. A huge move going on is a move made by the Cleveland Browns. The Browns had picked up two quarterbacks on Thursday. The Browns signed Quarterbacks Vince Young and Tyler Thigpen. They had played as backup quarterbacks in the past. The Browns may release these two quarterbacks before the regular season due to the fact rumors say that the Browns will still be looking for a quarterback in the draft. Espn states that Young made 50 starts from 2006 to 2011. He completed 57.9 percent of his passes with 46 touchdowns and 51 interceptions. He is 31-19 as a starter and twice made the Pro Bowl. Reports also say that the Browns on Thursday also signed linebacker Zac Diles, who spent parts of the past two seasons with Tennessee. Brian Hoyer will still be the starter this season according to reports. Montee Ball stated to reporters that he is confident that he will be able to take over as the Denver Broncos number one running back. He also stated that he believes that Knowsean Moreno will find a new team and play just fine on his new team. Ball stated to espn that "I don't want them to bring another running back in," Ball said. "I want it to be my job and that's how I'm approaching it -- in the most humble way possible. Like I said, I understand they're not going to hand it to me, but I'm going to work really, really hard to contribute."

NFL News (CC-1)

The New York Jets have not yet officially picked who their starting quarterback this season. If it was up to the players their mind has already been made up. LeSean McCoy says that it would be one of the easiest choices. He states he would have Michael Vick start over Geno Smith. Michael Vick played with LeSean McCoy for 5 years on the Philedolphia Eagles in the past. McCoy had told the press that Vick would be a positive influence on the New York Jets. "I respect what Mike said, but I understand there's a competition," Smith said last week. "It comes down to what we do on the field." More news going around is that the Jacksonville Jaguars had a meeting with offensive tackle Jake Matthews. Jake Matthews went to and played for Texas A&M. If the Jacksonville Jaguars pick up Matthews he will help strengthen their line which could help them win games. He would help because he could help give them more time in the pocket which would give more time for receivers to get open. He could also help make bigger wholes for bigger run games. The offensive lineman is not the biggest of their concern this off season. Reports say those there biggest concern pass-rushers, a quarterback and receivers. The Eagles have finally talked about the release of DeSean Jackson. On Monday the Eagles say it was purely a football decision. They also said that the Eagles were going in a different direction at the wide receiver position. Chip Kelly had said that Jacksons release had nothing to do with anything that was ever written in the newspaper or behavior. Kelly also said that he was great the year he was coaching him. The Eagles and Chip Kelly had said that he wishes Jackson luck in the rest of his career.

Buffalo Bills (BB-1)

The Buffalo Bills have had a very important offseason this year. This year’s big issue and problem is finding a new owner. A very big option for a new owner is Donald Trump. Donald Trump would be a great owner in my opinion. He would be a great owner because Trump has money to support the team for equipment and or anything else to help improve the players. Donald Trump would also do his best to keep this team in Buffalo and him and only a few other people wanting to buy the Buffalo Bills will want to do. Not many people who are offering to buy the Bills want to keep them in Buffalo. If the Bills stay in Buffalo money will still be brought in and benefit the team in multiple ways. Another discussion the Buffalo is about the Buffalo Bills cheerleaders. The Bills cheerleaders are called the Buffalo Jills. The rumor around the NFL right now is that the Bills may not have a cheerleading squad this year. The reason for this is because the league says they are dressing inappropriate and not wearing enough clothing. I disagree and agree with this statement. I agree because there are little kids watching the football games and I understand that parents don't want their little children looking at that but I also think that unless they are staring at the cheerleaders it isn't a big deal. I do believe there should be regulations for their uniforms because there are little kids watching the game but I do not believe this is that big of a deal that they will not let them cheer this season. Now I do not know if this will happen for sure but there are rumors going around saying that it might happen this season.

NFL News (BB-2)

Big news for the NFL is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are thinking of picking up Johnny Manziel. Johnny Manziel is one of the few quarterbacks predicted to go really early in the draft this season. Another quarterback predicted to go early is Teddy Bridgewater and A.J. McCarron. Players that are predicted to go very early this year in the draft is Jadaveon Clowney and Kahlil Mack. Jadaveon Clowney is predicted to go number one in the NFL. Another really big thing going on in the league right now is the New York Jets have recently picked up former Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson. Chris Johnson will make a great asset to any team he will ever be on due to his great speed and agility. Johnson also is a very tough running back who can not only out run a defensive player but he could also break a couple tackles if he has to. I believe that he will do decent on the Jets but I do think their offensive line will hurt him too. I believe it will hurt him because the Jets do not have a very strong offensive line that will make either a big enough hole or not enough time to get to it. I do not believe Johnson will have many passes thrown to him other than a couple screen passes here and there or maybe a couple short routes but I don't believe he will have any big passes. I do believe he will help the Jets this season and maybe even help improve their record from last year. He will help because their run game in my opinion will be better if the line give Johnson big enough holes. I wish all of the teams in the NFL good luck in this upcoming draft and season.

(AA-1) NFL News

Lately many big things are happening the NFL. One of those major things is the Cleveland Browns matched the five year deal that Alex Mack had signed earlier in the week with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Friday. The Browns were given five days to match the offer but it only took the team a couple of hours. The deal was a five year deal worth 42 million with 26 million dollars guaranteed. Mack would be receiving the highest guarantee of any other free agent this season. Another big story is the André Roberts situation. This situation is about Roberts not knowing what his NFL career has in store for him. He wonders this because after the Washington Redskins had signed him they also signed Desean Jackson which leaves Roberts thinking how much playing time he will be receiving in the upcoming seasons. Roberts had thought that he would be the number 2 receiver until he found out that the Redskins had signed Jackson. Houston Texans running back Arian Foster will be healthy enough to be able to attend and participate in the OTA's. Foster had missed 8 games last season due to injuries and will be fully healthy and ready to go in the upcoming seasons. Foster had stated to reporters that he does not think of this season of a comeback season, he believes he will treat it like any other season. He also stated that he will not try to prove anything to anyone because he does not believe that he does not have to prove himself to anyone. I believe that Foster will do just fine this year and he will be a big contributor to the Texans season touchdowns. I also believe he will have a good chunk of rushing yard ss as well as some receiving yards as well.

NFL News (Z-2)

Huge news for the NFL is the release of Tennessee Titans former running back Chris Johnson. Johnson has played over six years with the Titans. "As an organization, we want to thank Chris for his contributions to the Titans," general manager Ruston Webster said in a release. ESPN stated that the Titans had tried to trade Johnson in the past but it had not worked out. In Johnson's career he has rushed for about 7,965 yards with a career long of a 94 yard run. He also had acquired 18 fumbles in his NFL career. Coaches and players have stated that Chris Johnson a "playmaker". Reporters have said Johnson averaged a career-worst 3.9 yards a carry and didn't have a run longer than 30 yards in 2013. He was scheduled to make $8 million in 2014. Chris Johnson still has the fastest 40 yard dash. His 40 yard dash time 4.24 seconds which has not been beaten yet. Reporters have also stated that "The lightning-fast Johnson was one of the league's most dynamic and explosive playmakers early in his career. He ran for 2,006 yards in 2009 and is one of only six players to run for at least 1,000 yards in his first six seasons." I believe that Chris Johnson would make a great player to any organization. I believe any team in need of a running back could benefit greatly with picking him up in the upcoming season. He is a very fast, powerful, and just an all-around great athlete. He has played decently in the past seasons but I feel on a new team he could really excel in his career. Any team that picks up Chris Johnson will benefit immensely in the upcoming seasons and in his career. Good luck to Chris Johnson with his team search.

Big trades and signings in the NFL (Z-1)

One big signing that happened in the NFL recently was the Washington Redskins signing Desean Jackson. Jackson is the eagles former Wide Receiver. The Redskins signed Jackson for a three year deal worth 24 million with 16 million dollars guaranteed. Jackson signed this contract on April 2, 2014. Jackson has a career total of 32 touchdowns with a total of 356 receptions. He also recorded a total of 6,117 yards in his NFL career. His career long was a 91 yard reception. Another huge move is the New York Giants signed former Denver Broncos defensive end Robert Ayers on Wednesday, the team announced. The contract is for two years’ worth a total of 4 million dollars with 1.75 million dollars guaranteed. A major trade I believe would impact the NFL greatly would be if the Houston Texans traded Andre Johnson to the San Francisco 49ers for a 2014 second-round pick and 2014 fifth-round pick. The Steelers also made a big move recently. The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey to a one-year deal. This past season Darrius Heyward-Bey had a total of 29 receptions for a total of 309 yards and only a single touchdown. He went from starting the season as the No. 2 receiver to ending the season on special teams. The Raiders are also making big moves by releasing veteran right guard Mike Brisiel after two up-and-down, injury-filled years on Tuesday. The New York Jets are also looking to help their teams odds in the upcoming seasons by signing cornerback Dimitri Patterson. Patterson signed a one-year, $3 million deal, according to league source. ESPN says that Patterson, who turns 31 on June 18, was released last month by the Dolphins to save $5.4 million against the salary cap. Many teams are taking opportunities to make their teams better in the future.

NFL trades and signings (Y-2)

Several huge trades and signings have been going on in the NFL lately. One of the biggest moves this off season has to be for the Chicago Bears. The Bears had signed defensive end Jared Allen. Allen's contract was worth 32 million dollars for a total of 4 years. Allen had turned down the Raiders offer of 9 million dollars per year. Jimmy Graham is still a free agent. The New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton has stated that "It's hard to put a timetable on it," Payton said Wednesday. "But I would say very similar to Drew [Brees' contract], I think all of us feel like it's just a matter of not if, but when. I don't know if there's nervous anticipation." ESPN also stated that there has been some debate on position classification with Graham. He plays tight end but wants to be designated as a wide receiver, where more money is involved. Payton said that could make things tricky but may not be a huge snag in the grand scheme of negotiations. Another big thing going on is the Philadelphia Eagles not sure if they want to keep wide receiver DeSean Jackson or let him go. When Chip Kelly was asked whether he wants Jackson on the team, Kelly said, "I like DeSean. DeSean did a really nice job for us [last season]. But we're always going to do what's best for the organization." ESPN stated that Jackson had been scheduled to earn a base salary of 10.5 million dollars in the 2014 season. Chip Kelly also stated that "He played 16 games for us, practiced every day," Kelly said. "I had no issues with him." Kelly said "I don't deal with numbers; that's not my job," when asked whether he felt Jackson was worth the salary.

NFL News (Y-1)

There have been several major things happening right now in the NFL. One thing that is going on is ex quarterback Jim Kelly was diagnosed with cancer on June 3, 2013. Jim Kelly had been treated and had surgery to remove the tumor shortly after the diagnoses. Kelly was cleared of the cancer until a few days ago. Kelly was told a few days ago that the tumor had come back. Jim Kelly's wife Jill Kelly has told the press that the oral surgery is probably not the best choice right now. She also stated that "At this point and time surgery is not the best option for Jim," Jill Kelly wrote on her Facebook page. "The cancer is in areas that surgery cannot successfully eradicate." Reporters say that Kelly was originally scheduled for five to six weeks of chemotherapy after his surgery. Reports say Kelly learned on March 14 that cancerous cells, which doctors removed from his jaw in June 2013, had returned. His wife said in a blog post last week that the cancer was "aggressive" and "starting to spread." Reporters also say the 54-year-old Kelly, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2002, has received prayers and support across social media. More NFL news that involves Buffalo is the death of Ralph Wilson Jr. Wilson was the founder of the Buffalo Bills and has died on March 25, 2014 at the age of 95 years old. Following the death of owner Ralph Wilson, the future of the Buffalo Bills in Western New York is in doubt. "No one loved this game more than Ralph Wilson," said Bills president/CEO Russ Brandon, who learned of the news from Wilson's widow, Mary, on Tuesday afternoon. Brandon also stated that he was a great man and an unbelievable leader. Wilson was Brandon's boss for about 18 years.

NFL News (X-2)

Huge news in the NFL is that the Tennessee Titans are thinking about trading running back Chris Johnson. Johnson, 28, has rushed for 7,965 yards and 50 touchdowns in his career. He also has 272 catches for 2,003 yards and eight touchdowns. More big news in the NFL is that the New York Jets released quarterback Mark Sanchez. After they released Sanchez they made a one year agreement with Michael Vick worth 5 million dollars. The Seattle Seahawks might also have great news. The Seahawks met with Jarrod Allen about him signing with them and Allen stated that he will make his decision and get back to them with his decision this weekend. The Atlanta Falcons made a huge move that could affect the outcome of the upcoming season. The Falcons have signed Devin Hester for three years. The financial aspects of the contract have not yet been established. The Kansas City Chiefs starting Safety Kendrick Lewis was signed by the Houston Texans. With the gain of Lewis the Texans have released Matt Schaub for a 6th round draft pick. Before releasing Schaub the Texans also signed Ryan Fitzpatrick on Thursday. Another big thing happening for the Tennessee Titans is that defensive end Adewale Ojomo was arrested. Ojomo was arrested in a prostitution sting. The defensive end was held on a 500 dollar bail. The Steelers also have made a big move this off season. The Pittsburgh Steelers quickly filled the void left by Jerricho Cotchery's departure, signing former New Orleans Saints wide receiver Lance Moore to a two-year contract Friday. Reporters say that Moore visited the Steelers earlier this week, and signing him became a priority after the Carolina Panthers lured Cotchery away with a two-year, $5 million contract. On March 21, 2014 Moore tweeted "Excited to be a part of #steelernation, Couldn't ask for a better organization to continue my career with!"

Tuesday, March 18, 2014

NFL Trades and Signs (X-1)

On Monday, March 17, 2014 Darrelle Revis finally found his new team. Revis signed a contract for two years’ worth $32 million with the Patriots on Monday, although the deal is essentially for one year and $12 million because it includes a $25 million salary-cap charge in 2015. New England also signed another cornerback. This other new player is Brandon Browner. Browner stated that he had been told the Patriots will play a lot of man coverage, which is a strong suit for him and Revis. "It's basically about just winning," Revis said Monday during an introductory conference call. Revis stated that "I weighed my options and I just wanted to win. I felt like this is the right place. What better organization than the New England Patriots to be a part of?" "I was also told we play a lot of man to man, which is my strong suit," he said. Browner stated that "From what I understand, they're going to have us matched up [a lot]." Another great move by the Patriots was re-signing Julian Edelman. The deal has a base value of $17 million and includes $8 million in bonuses and guarantees ($6 million guaranteed for skill) and $2 million in incentives, a source confirmed to ESPN.com. Edelman says that he is excited to play with Derrelle Revis. He also stated that Revis is the best corner in the game. When asked about Vince Wilfork's situation he stated that he is focused on his own future, and he's excited to stay with the only NFL organization he's ever played for.The Oakland Raiders reached agreement with wide receiver James Jones on a three-year deal. The terms of the deal were not disclosed, but a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that the contract is worth $11.3 million.

NFL Trades (W-1)(W-2)

There are many things going on in the NFL that could affect certain teams in the upcoming season. One of the big moves right now is that the Cincinnati Bengals release James Harrison. Harrison is a linebacker that has played for both the Cincinnati Bengals and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Since 2004 to the past season Harrison has recorded over 470 solo tackles with a total of 66 sacks so far in his career. Harrison has stated to the media that his is not planning on retiring this year and is just waiting for a team to pick him up. Another huge move in the NFL was made by the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers have officially cut Wide Receiver Steve Smith on Thursday, March 13, 2014. Steve Smith made a huge impact on the Panthers season recording 836 career receptions and a total of 12,197 yards this far in his career. A huge move for the Buffalo Bills this off season is that they have lost Jarious Bird. Bird has made a big decision to move to the New Orleans Saints. Bird states that is was the "winning culture" that drew him to the New Orleans Saints in free agency. Another big move by the Buffalo Bills is that they have made a move which involves Kiko Alonso to an outside linebacker this upcoming season. The Bills are also having Keith Rivers on the other outside linebacker. Alonso recorded 159 tackles were third in the NFL, while he added four interceptions, two sacks and one forced fumble this season. The Bills believe moving Alonso, presumably to the weak-side, will free him up to make more plays. "We think with his athletic ability, his speed, and his instincts, why limit him by having to take on those big guards? Let's cover him up and let him run and hit," Whaley said. Reports also say Powell, a seventh-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks in 2013, played in five games as a reserve late last season. The other possibility is Nigel Bradham, whose playing time dropped significantly last season and is probably better suited as a weak-side linebacker. A huge move for the Philidolphia Eagles happened Thursday, March 13, 2014. This big move involved them picking up Darren Sproles from the New Orleans Saints. The Saints received a fifth round draft pick. In my opinion Sproles would make a great back up running back for the Eagles as well as a starting Kick returner. He would also make a good punt returner. The Eagles signed Sproles to a two-year extension, league sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Sproles is now tied to the Eagles for three seasons. Chip Kelly stated "Darren Sproles is an unbelievable offensive weapon," He also states "He can do it all, run, catch and plus he's a proven winner. And on top of that, he can bring all of those dynamic skills to the return game as well. There is no question we were all excited once we found out we were going to be able to trade for him." Howie Roseman states that "He's such a dangerous back, and he's a great piece to add to our offense and to our special teams. We spent considerable time in order to try to make this happen, and we were very happy to get a deal done with New Orleans." Linebacker, Daryl Smith has resigned with the Baltimore Ravens for a four year deal worth 16.1 million dollars. Reporters state that Smith finished with 123 tackles, five sacks, three interceptions, 19 passes defensed and two forced fumbles. He also returned an interception 37 yards for a game-turning touchdown in a 30-9 victory over Houston.

NFL News (V-1)(V-2)

In the 2014 off season in the NFL there is a lot going on right now. One of the very important things that are going on right now is that the Pittsburgh Steelers resign Troy Polamalu and Heath Miller. The Polamalu deal is for $20 million total and saves Pittsburgh $4.5 million against the cap this year, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Heath Miller signed a 2 year deal extension through the 2016 season that will reduce his cap hit for 2014 by more than $3 million, according to multiple reports. Troy Polamalu played every down for the past seasons and has been to the past eight Pro Bowls after having 85 tackles, two interceptions and forced five fumbles. Another rumor that is going around the NFL is that the Vikings are talking about Michael Vick making them a playoff team in the 2014 season. Michael Vick will be turning 34 this year. Vick will be getting older but he will still be able to play and make a difference for the Vikings. Adrian Peterson tweeted on March 5, 2014 that Michael Vick would definitely make the Vikings a playoff team. Reports state that the New Orleans Saints would release Darren Sproles this year if they don't have any trades lined up. Sproles tweeted on March 7 of this year "Thank you New Orleans for your support over the past 3 years! I will always be forever grateful. #WhoDat" This tweet shows that Sproles is a very classy player and deserves to be on a good team. Darren Sproles is a great running back with great skill and speed and would be a great asset to any team looking for a running back. Jimmy Graham stated in a tweet at March 7, 2014 that "Wow unbelievable. Shocked and disappointed on everything that's gone on this offseason. The New Orleans Saints released wide receiver Lance Moore on Friday, a move designed at clearing room under the salary cap. Lance Moore also tweeted on March 7, 2014 "Thank you New Orleans for an amazing nine years. Who Dat Nation, the best on earth!!!" Lance Moore was on the New Orleans Saints for about nine years. In his nine years he played very well. The Saints also released Will Smith, Jonathan Vilma, Roman Harper and Jabari Greer in February of this year. In 2012 Moore reached over 1000 rushing yards in the season. This year he finished the regular season with just 37 catches for 457 yards and two touchdowns. Another team making a big move is the Vikings. Quarterback Matt Cassel will return to Minnesota next season, signing a two-year deal with the Vikings on Friday, a league source confirmed to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. The deal is worth $10 million, according to CBSSports.com. Cassel ended up leading the Vikings in passing yards and touchdowns in the past season. Some important free agents that could be picked up right now are Darren McFadden, Knowshawn Moreno, and LeGarrette Blount, and Julian Edelman. All of these free agents could be key players for a team if they were to be picked up. Maurice Jones-Drew would also be a great player to pick up due to his power and speed. He would make a great impact on whatever team he would go to. If Jones-Drew does not re-sign with the Jaguars -- and right now it appears he won’t -- the team needs to sign a replacement via free agency. If he can solve his fumbling problems, he could be a surprise. Expect the team to draft at least one back as well.

Richie Incognito (U-2)

Richie Incognito has reportedly smashed is Ferrari with a baseball bat. Incognito has been in the spot light for a while due to "bullying" his teammate Jonathan Martin. I believe this whole story is just way out of hand. Martin is a grown man who can deal with his problems with somebody other than the media. Martin is 24 years old and he is going to the media to solve his problems? I believe if you have problems no, you shouldn't bully someone but the person who is bullied is going to the media? I don't believe what Incognito said is that big of a deal. People are bullied every day and I only here about a 24 year old football player is called a racist word. When I go on ESPN I don’t feel like hearing about Richie Incognito smashing his car with a baseball bat. I want to hear about sports not how a football player vents about his problems. I also don’t want to read about a player crying to the media about how he feels about Richie Incognito. I believe either the players forget about it or just shut up. If they don’t do either I believe both players should be traded. When he smashed his car Incognito says that "Oh that was that was just me venting, that was self-expression, that's a piece of art". He also says that "The happiest day of my life was when I got that car and now the second happiest day will be when I donate it to charity. The Ferrari is a story unto itself, the Ferrari is one entity, but I will tell you this, the Ferrari is going to be for sale through my mission which is helping the brotherhood, whatever brotherhood it is."

NFL Combine (U-2)

This year in the 2014 NFL draft combine many players performed great. This year’s combine was taken place on February 22 through the 25th. Chris Johnson still holds the record for the fastest 40 yard dash in combine history. This record was set back in 2008 and has not yet been beaten. Chris Johnson ran his 40 yard dash in 4.24 seconds. They were not any players who took Johnsons place for the fastest 40 yard dash this year at the combine. The player who came closest to Johnson's record this year was Dri Archer. Michael Sam (T-1)

Michael Sam, NFL draft prospect announces he's gay. Michael Sam plays for the Missouri Tigers. Michael Sam is a defensive end and hopes to be a top prospect for the NFL Draft this year. Sam first told teammates L'Damian Washington and Marvin Foster about a year ago. Sam also states that he understands this is a big deal but he must focus on training for the combine. He also wants to thank everyone for their support. He also states he wants to share his story with the world. Sam says he would like to thank his teammates because without them he said he would be nothing. Sam had a pretty outstanding year in college this season. He had a total of 10.5 sacks. Sam also recorded an assisted sack while up against Texas A&M's tackle Jake Matthews. Matthew is expected to be a first round draft chose. Daniel Jeremiah says he does not think this will affect him being drafted. "In my eight years in draft rooms, the subject never came up. I would expect it would not have an impact on his draft status," Jeremiah said. "In my experience with every team I was with, it was all about putting the best 53 players on the field. I don't see why that would change here." Due to his size he expected to be switched to an outside linebacker. He will be placed there so his pass-rush skills will be utilized more. Michael Sam was one of the best pass rushers in college football this year. Sam also told espn that he is an openly, happy gay man. He states he wants to own his truth.

Super Bowl (R-2)

This year’s Super Bowl was a joke. First of all the first play of the game was a fumble for a safety. The center and Peyton Manning were at fault for the missed snap that led to a safety. The fumble was due to a lack of communication between for the Broncos. The Seattle Seahawks took an early lead. Within the first minute of the game the Seahawks had 2 points on the board. Seattle's first drive led to a field goal attempt by David Hauschka. The kick was good which made the score 5-0. After a beautiful kick out of the end zone the Broncos had another chance to score. The Broncos had to punt the ball away. The Broncos did not really play hard either side of the ball in the most important game of the season and even some of the player’s career. The Broncos did not have a single first down the whole first quarter while the Seahawks had 6. The Seahawks really dominated the Broncos not allowing them to score a touchdown more than once. The only other points the Broncos put on the board was a 2 point conversion. Peyton Manning recorded 280 yards throwing 30 for 49. Manning also threw 2 interceptions. One of the picks was for a touchdown. Russell Wilson threw for a total of 206 yards going 18 for 25. The main recievers for both teams included Golden Tate and Wes Welker. Marshawn Lynch did not do that great but neither did Knowshon Moreno. Neither running backs broke 75 yards. Over all this Super Bowl was disapointing. The halftime show was at least decent this year but overall not exciting.

Superbowl prediction (R-1)

This year’s super bowl game will be the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks. The Super bowl will be held on Sunday February 2, 2014. Kick off this year will be at about 6:25 p.m. at MetLife stadium in New Jersey. Both the Denver Broncos as well as the Seattle Seahawks were 13 and 3 coming in the Super bowl. The Broncos were 7 and 1 at home while the Seahawks were 6 and 3. I believe this year the Denver Broncos will win against the Seattle Seahawks. I believe the Broncos will win by two scores. I believe Peyton Manning will throw over 300 yards while Russell Wilson will throw over 220 yards. I also believe the Denver Broncos will shut down Marshawn Lynch. I think Lynch will have no more than 115 yards. The Broncos rushing game will do ok but not great due to Seattle’s defense. I do not think the Seattle defense will be able to stop Peyton Manning. I believe Richard Sherman will not be able to shut down Peyton Manning. I don't believe Richard Sherman will be running his mouth after this game. I believe Richard Sherman will not have anything to say if the Seattle Seahawks lose on Sunday. If the Denver Broncos win on Sunday this will be their first Super bowl win in Seattle history. Good luck to both teams on Sunday.

Coaching Changes in the NFL (Q-2)

Many changes have happened to a lot of teams coaching wise. A lot of teams in the NFL have been firing and hiring coaches. One team that hired a coach is the Cleveland Browns. There will be a new coach replacing Rob Chudzinski. The new coach of the Browns is Mike Pettine. The Browns also showed interest in hiring Gary Kubiak as an offensive coordinator. Bill O'Brian will be replacing Gary Kubiak for the Houston Texans as the head coach. Another coach that was fired this off season was the Washington Redskins coach, Mike Shanahan. Mike Shanahan's replacement is Jay Gruden. Leslie Frazier will be replacing Mike Zimmer as a coach of the Minnesota Vikings. Jim Schwartz was fired by the Detroit Lions while Jim Caldwell. Another coaching change was for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Buccaneers picked up Lovie Smith while releasing Greg Schiano. One more team that made a staff change was the Tennessee Titans. The Titans release Mike Munchak and pick up Ken Whisenhunt. The teams that Decided to keep their coaches include, the Miami Dolphins, the New York Jets, the Dallas Cowboys and the Oakland Raiders. The coaches they decided to keep included,

NFL- Richard Sherman Interview (Q-1)

After the Seattle Seahawks picked up a win against the San Francisco with a score of 17 to 23 ESPN had a chance to interview Richard Sherman. Richard Sherman is the Seattle Seahawks starting corner back. Sherman wears jersey number 25. The interview that was with Richard Sherman represents the whole Seattle team. Sherman’s interview was disrespectful, rude and just plain un-professional. Sherman's interview just displays how little class he has. Sherman repeatedly bad talked and disrespected San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree. Crabtree wears the jersey number 15 and also represents his team. Crabtree showed sportsmanship and class during and after the game. Crabtree held his head high after losing in the last round of the playoffs while Sherman repeatedly talked down his game. Sherman said "I was making sure everybody knew Crabtree was a mediocre receiver." He also continued to say "And when you try the best corner in the game with a mediocre receiver that's what happens." After Sherman’s interview Crabtree tweeted, "Film don't lie... @nflnetwork @espn pull up the tape of that game and show me where this guy is the best? #fake #fake #fake". Crabtree also said "We just couldn't capitalize. Sherman made a good play. That's probably the only play he made all game." Sherman did not like that comment and retaliated. Sherman says that the two players dislike for each other started back in the off season. Sherman did not go into any further details about the situation. Sherman did make the statement, "He said something personal face to face. He knows what he said and he knows I'm going to be tough on him the rest of his career." Richard Sherman and the rest of the Seattle Seahawks will have to practice hard to get ready for the Broncos in the Super Bowl.

Pro Bowl Updates (P-2)

This year the Pro Bowl will be set up a little different than every other year. This year there will be two teams just like every other time but, they will not be divided by conferences. The teams will be Jerry Rice's team and Deon Sanders team. The game will be on Sunday, January 26th at 7:30 pm. This year’s game will also introduce the new Pro Bowl jerseys. This year’s Pro Bowl will involve a lot of new faces including many rookies and even some veterans in the NFL that have not been involved in the past. The Draft was held on January 21, 2014. This year I believe will be different not only the teams but the atmosphere. I believe it will be different due to the fact many things have been changed this year. One thing being that there will be two teams but the teams will have drafted players instead of two teams consisting of conference. The coach of Sander’s team is Chuck Pagano. The captains of Sander’s team are J.J Watt and Jamaal Charles. The captains of Rice’s team will consist of Drew Brees and Robert Quinn. The coach of this team will be Ron Rivera. This far in the draft only full backs, centers, guards, and defensive tackles. Long snappers, punters and special team players have also been selected. I believe this Pro Bowl will be exciting due to the fact players get to play will players they wouldn’t normally get to work will. Both teams so far have pretty strong rosters this far into the 2014 Pro Bowl draft. This year Jerry Rice’s team will be in orange while Sander’s will be in yellow. This year will have many familiar faces while there will also be some new faces this year. Good luck to both teams.

NFL Playoffs (P-1)

With the first round of the playoffs over only 4 teams advanced to the next round. The teams that advanced were the Seattle Seahawks, the Denver Broncos, the San Francisco 49ers, and the New England Patriots. The New England Patriots took a win over the Colts with a score of 22 to 43. The San Francisco 49ers also took a win over the Panthers with a score of 23 to 10 while the Broncos beat the Chargers. The score of the game was 24 to 17.The Seattle Seahawks beat the New Orleans Saints with a score of 23 to 15. Next week the Seahawks will meet the San francisco 49ers in Seattle. I believe the Seahawks will play a great game but i think the 49ers will just play a little better. This game will be a madder of who makes more mistakes on defense. This is a defensive game due to the fact both teams have an incredible offense so whoever makes a mistake on defense could cause them the game. Both teams also have a great defense. This game will be held on Sunday at 6:30 pm. The Patriots will be playing the Broncos on Sunday at 3:00 at Mile High statium. I believe the Tom Brady and the Patriots will beat the Broncos in a very close game. I believe Tom Brady will also have better statistics than Peyton Manning. I also believe the Broncos passing game will not be as good as it has been this season. Steven Ridley will have a good rushing game while Julian Edelman will have a good game with at least one touchdown. The Patriots defense will be able to stop the Broncos this weeka in the playoffs. I believe the Patriots will advance to the playoffs. I believe the Super Bowl game should be the San Francisco 49ers facing the New England Patriots.

Playoff Standings (O-2)

This year for the NFL there are 8 teams hoping to advance from the playoffs. Those teams would include the San Diego Chargers, the San Francisco 49ers, the Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints. The other four teams led their divisions in the regular season. Those teams include the New England Patriots, the Denver Broncos, the Seattle Seahawks, and the Carolina Panthers. All of those teams hope to advance closer to the Super Bowl but only 4 will advance to next week. One game this week will be the Carolina Panthers facing the San Francisco 49ers. I believe the 49ers will pull out a win this week in the playoffs. Another game is the Denver Broncos and the San Diego Chargers. I believe the Chargers will overcome the odds and take another win over the Broncos. The New Orleans Saints will be playing the Seattle Seahawks. I believe it will be a close game but Russell Wilson will lead the Seahawks to victory this week. One more game this week is the Indianapolis Colts and the New England Patriots. I believe Tom Brady will take a loss to the Colts this week in the playoffs. Only four teams will advance and all these teams will be giving it their all to make their teams the teams to advance. These teams have been working hard all year and they will work even harder this week than all others. These teams are the best of the best this season and they all think they have what it takes to advance. These games will all be very close games. All of these teams are hoping to make it all the way to the Super Bowl. Good luck to all of these teams.

Wild Card in NFL (O-1)

In the 2013 to 2014 NFL season only 8 teams advanced to the playoffs. Those teams included the New Orleans Saints, the Philadelphia Eagles, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Indianapolis Colts. The San Diego Chargers, the Cincinnati Bengals, The San Francisco 49ers and the Green Bay Packers were also included in the wildcard games. Out of those 4 games only 4 teams advance to the playoffs. One team that advanced was the Saints with a final score of 26 to 24 against the Eagles. Drew Brees played a good game throwing 20 for 30 with 250 yards and 1 touchdown. Another game was the Chiefs and Colts. The Colts came up with a big win this week with a tight score of 45 to 44. Andrew Luck really brought it this week throwing 29 for 45 with 443 yards and 4 touchdowns. The final score of the 49ers and Packers game ended the Packers season with a final score of 23 to 20. Colin Kaepernik really played a great game. Kaepernik threw 16 for 30 with a total of 227 yards and a touchdown. The game that did not end as close was the Bengals and the Chargers game. The Bengals just couldn't keep up with the Chargers this week. Phillip Rivers played a good game going 12 for 16 with 128 yards and a single touchdown. Ronnie Brown touched the ball only 8 times and had 77 yards rushing. These teams will now advance to the playoffs only to face teams who led their division in the regular season. All these teams played great this season and with the teams that have ended their season I’m sure they will be working harder for the upcoming season. The teams that have advanced all have the same dream. That dream is making it to the biggest game of the year, The Super Bowl.
